I-jiggle-07

The department of Biotechnology, ANITS has organized joint interactive two day training programme (i-jiggle 07) in Bioinformatics in collaboration with the JIGSAW Biosolutions Pvt. Ltd Bangalore on 4th , 5th of Oct 07. Sri. N.Adinarayana Regional Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Visakhapatnam has inaugurated the function. Prof. K.A.Balasubramanian, Former Principal, Agricultural College Bapatla of Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University was the Guest of Honour during the function. Prof. P.Ramakrishna Rao, Director ANITS presided over the function. Prof. R.Govardhana Rao, Principal ANITS and Dr. K.Balakrishnan HOD, Biotechnology spoke on the occasion.
Around 150 delegates including students, faculty and researchers from various institutions, participated in the event. Mr.M.N.Manoj, CEO and his team of technocrats from Jigsaw Biosolutions Bangalore guided the delegates through the diverse modern aspects of bioinformatics. The participants got the opportunity to understand the different facets of bioinformatics and its applicability to their respective fields of work.Photo Gallery


Chaine de pensee

Chaine de pensee-07, a National Level Student Technical Symposium was organized by the department of Biotechnology on March 9th & 10th 2007. Technical papers from various specializations of biotechnology & Chemical engineering were presented in 5 different sessions & in the poster session. All the technical sessions were chaired by subject experts drawn from Andhra University, Aurobindho Pharma, Krebs Biotech, GITAM & Alameer College of Engineering. Delegates from 35 institutions participated in the meet. A total of 155 papers were presented. 246 participants from distant places got benefited not only from technical presentations but also form the skill swelling events such as technical quiz, treasure hunt etc. conducted during this function.

An illustrious array of experts illuminated this function by their presence & advices. They include (1) Shri. MLN. Srinivas (Vice president, Aurobindo Pharma), (2) Prof. VSRK., Prasad Chemical Engineering, Andhra University. (3) Shri. Avinash Ravi, COO, Krebs Biotech, (4) Shri. LM. Rao, GM (D&E), Vizag steel Plant, (5) Prof. Uma Devi, Dept. of Botany, Andhra University & (6) Shri. Madusudhan Sharma, GM, UB group. Dr. K. Balakrishnan worked as the convener & Shri. S. Ramappa as the Co-convener for this function.

AMBT-06

A two days (September 9th & 10) workshop as part of the industry-academy interaction on Advanced Molecular Biology techniques was held to provide hands on experience to the teaching community, researchers & other technical people in collaboration with M/S Helini Biomolecules, Chennai. Our faculty members also presented papers and guided the participants in the practical aspects.

AMBT attended by a selective bunch of 30 participants all across AP was inaugurated by Shri. V. Jayaraman, general manager (Technology & development), Krebs Biochemicals (P) Ltd., Kasimkota at a function presided over by Prof. P. Ramakrishna Rao, Director ANITS. Shri Selvaraj, MD of Helini Biomolecules, Chennai was the guest of honor.

Practical course in Molecular immunology

For the benefit of all the batches of Biotechnology, a special skill swelling technical exercise was conducted on 18th & 25th of Feb 2006. This was held to expose the students to the state of art of experimentation in Molecular immunology and in collaboration with M/S Medox Biotech India (P) Ltd, Madras. During this practical course the students got familiarized to Latex Agglutination, Dot ELISA and rocket immuno electrophoresis techniques. This is another attempt of continuing education carried out in the department. Our staff members also contributed to guiding the 30 students underwent this course.
